The Adelaide Show Podcast putting South Australian passion on centre stage

161: A night at the Manchen

A night at the Manchen: Tom Northcott, Nigel Dobson-Keeffe, Ivan Tomic and Steve Davis for The Adelaide Show Podcast

Tonight, we are not just spending a night at the Manchen, we are recording in an actual Man Cave, where we will be exploring the myth, the energy and the creativity that evolves in such places.. You’ve no doubt heard about man caves and we came close when we had Tim Pine on our show in episode 86, but tonight it is the real deal. Dougal McFuzzlebutt is Man 1, he is known around town for all things food and food photography, Tom Northcott is Man 2, he is the executive winemaker from Howard Vineyard, whose 2010 Amos Cabernet Franc was our SA Drink Of The Year in 2013, and Man 3 is Ivan Tomic, who runs The Roaming Spit.

We discuss

  • The Manchen approach to recipes
  • How to cook meat over an open fire
  • The real life of a winemaker
  • Why men cube vegetables
  • How does a man kitchen compare to a man cave?
