114 – The Adelaide Publicist

114-neil-ward-steve-davis

Overture, light the lights, this week’s podcast takes you behind the curtain of Adelaide’s theatre world with publicist extraordinaire, Neil Ward.

Since the 80s, Neil has been involved in publicity for theatre, opera and film, first with the Festival Theatre and then out on his own from 1994.

He has worked closely with all the names in Australia’s entertainment industry and shares his stories of working with them.

He also gives us insight into the challenges and changes of working with our media outlets and reviewers, whom he needs to court so they share their impressions of shows with you and me.

In IS IT NEWS, Nigel tests us on the theme, Entertainment.

George Inglis reflects on the near death of a cyclist friend in Melbourne on the weekend.

Our SA Drink of the week is from Penley Estate Wines, with a bonus from DiGiorgio Wines, both from the Coonawarra and supplied by Neil Ward.

In the Adelaide Visa Council, we have one defendant.

And music is from the band that our musical curator belongs to, Plan B..

NOTE: David Washington from In Daily is on leave this week.
