In episode 123, our South Australian Drink Of The Week is one of those rare gems that is superb AND underpriced.
It is the Shingleback 2013 McLaren Vale South Coast Shiraz, which Steve is pictured with while eating a superb lamb salad at Vileroy.
Grant says this wine is perfect for summer dining as it is a lighter style Shiraz that does not rely on the heavy alcohol or acidity that many from the Barossa do.
He also checked with the Shingleback people to confirm it is available through the Fassina independent bottle shop network for $14.99 a bottle – a steal, we believe.
Steve was pleasantly surprised by this and thought it had a little more body and ‘grippiness’ than Grant suggested, while Nigel, Max and Nathan all sipped with delight.
