These Cantina Abbatiello Vagabondo Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz tasting notes were recorded as part of episode 177 of The Adelaide Show podcast.
Nigel’s “wine fairy” procured them from her work in Adelaide’s hospitality sector, and shared them with us for the podcast.
Having Max Martin on hand as a guest of Latin descent, sharpened our pronunciation of Abbatiello and helped us discern the surprises in store from these wines.

The Cantina Abbatiello 2012 Vagabondo Shiraz from McLaren Vale was the twist in the end of the movie.
It was completely atypical of McLaren Vale Shiraz.
Steve suggested it was a flatter Shiraz, like the tyres on a mountain bike rider, which are kept a little less inflated than other types of tyres.
As a result, it sits deeper across the tongue, delivering plum and some unspecified, red, tart, native Australian fruit.
This is a savoury red that would sit well amid the courses of a banquet.
