Californicator and Golden Stout Time from Big Shed Brewing Concern

Big Shed Brewing Concern Californicator and Golden Stout Time The Adelaide Show

Big Shed Brewing Concern Californicator and Golden Stout Time The Adelaide ShowFor our special Irish episode of the Adelaide Show, we asked the guys from Big Shed Brewing Concern if they had a beer or ale that could turn and Irish person into a fan,

They said yes, twice over, and hence we have TWO South Australian Drinks Of The Week this week.

The Californicator

The first one is Californicator.

This is an Indian Pale Ale and Craig from Big Shed chose it because Guinness has started brewing an IPA and therefore there is an Irish precedent.

In fact, Craig mentioned that Ireland has a flourish craft brewery scene so it was fitting to have him as our guest on this week’s show.

The Californicator opens nicely from its floral nose to burst onto the palate with a bright bedazzlement.

Then, as Steve pointed out, just as the beer settles into place apricots jump up from behind the tongue like zealous Easter bunnies hopping out from behind a hedgerow.

Fidelma, one of Irish guests (the one who doesn’t drink beer), fell in love with this drop and said she could definitely see herself drinking it again.

Golden Stout Time

The second of the drinks of the week was a beer Craig described as one that could ‘turn anybody’.

He says it is a dessert beer and that’s what confuses everybody and intrigues them deeply. It is also based on the Golden Gaytime Ice Cream.

On the nose, it delivers caramel, chocolate, nuts and vanilla bean.

On the palate, it delivers cold, bitter coffee and mocha.

It is an incredible experience and Ciara, our other Irish guest, said this could definitely make an Irish person very happy in the absence of Guinness.

Big Shed Brewing Concern beers are available in many pubs and bottle shops but perhaps best experience at the brewery in Royal Park.
