Monster – Lipsmack -026

lipsmack headerStarting with a dark, swirly guitar, Lipsmack’s vocalist and guitarist, Sundy Mantis drags “Monster” into an early-era Silverchair style pledge from the point of view of a drug about to take control of someone’s life. Sundy’s vocals really shine when she can step back from the mike and let rip. The  drums work really well to offset the power chords to build texture. Unlike other recordings of theirs I’ve heard, the bass is a bit more restrained in this one, but maybe that’s what makes the guitar and drums work so well. This is a great chick-rock band and an enormous song. Turn it up.
