Childhood – Tristan Dick Dandy Newsome – 046

tristan dick dandy newsome carAccording to his Facebook status, Tristan ‘Dick Dandy’ Newsome has quite the reputation as “an award-winning, earnest & endearing singer/songwriter and a captivating, performer/entertainer and enigmatic but engaging front man all in the one imposing package”. Apart from his solo work, he also plays out and supports high profile acts as Dick Dandy and his Wingmen.

I’ve never caught him live (though he is now on my bucket list), but have been sold by the depth and feeling conveyed in the performance of this song. According to Tristan, “I wrote this song after going to a wedding of a childhood friend. This person and I we’re very close in our younger years but grew apart over time. We hadn’t seen each other for a long time and I was invited to his wedding at ayers house. Attending the wedding briefly I had this overwhelming sense of regret and a sudden realisation of how different we now were. It’s a song of understanding. Dropping anchor. Moving on.”
