We tasted the Yondah Blue Paddock Shiraz and the Yondah Pink Time Sparkling Shiraz during The Adelaide Show Podcast episode 225, and these are our tasting notes.
Michele and Nick from Yondah Beach House source these wines they leave for guests from Perrini Wines at Meadows.
They offer:
- Pink Time – a sparkling Shiraz to be enjoyed at dusk which, at their property at the foot of the Yorke Peninsula, is accompanied by beautiful pink hues across the sky
- Green Tractor – an homage to Nick’s beloved John Deere tractor
- Blue Paddock – the Shiraz named after the ocean which farmers refer to as the blue paddock because it is a rich source of aquaculture production in the area

Yondah Pink Time Sparkling Shiraz tasting notes
The Pink Time is a delightfully simple sparkling Shiraz which Nick describes as “perfectly adequate”.
And he is right on the mark.
Nigel marvelled at the true-to-style Shiraz qualities still evident among the fizz.
Steve described it as being like a little boy advancing towards a tall fence around the Yondah Beach House property. As he hoists himself up to peer over the fence, amid the heady, brine-like, swirling breezes, his fingers press into rows of blackcurrants perched atop the fence, instantly mingling their scent and flavours with the experience before he drops back down, sweeping the berries away, leading to a crisp, clean finish.
Perfectly adequate, indeed!
Yondah Blue Paddock Shiraz tasting notes
The 2013 Shiraz, sourced from McLaren Vale fruit by Perrini Wines, is elegant and silken on the palate.
Steve described it as like entering one of the deluxe bedrooms at Yondah Beach House and allowing yourself to fall into one of the beds, which had been replaced by a generously large, soft, and supportive Christmas pudding.
It is well-cushioned on the palate and you are at once enveloped by fruit and spice.
The rest of the panel simply agreed.
