These Skillogalee 2012 Take Two Shiraz Cabernet tasting notes were recorded by Steve, Nigel and guest, David Washington from InDaily, for episode 137 of The Adelaide Show podcast.
Steve has long had a soft spot for Skillogalee and couldn’t resist ‘take two’ as the wine to accompany an evening discussion about the media.
Sometimes wine helps loosen tongues and allows for a free flow of conversation but that was not needed with David, from the start he was fully engaged in giving us deep glimpses into his world of journalism.
Skillogalee 2012 Take Two Shiraz Cabernet tasting notes
We were all suitably impressed by the nose, which presented with a strong tinge of violets according to Steve.
On the palate, this wine is very matter of fact. It gets down to business like a busy escort and guides you through the whole experience with confidence.
We picked up some sweet notes, possibly from the Shiraz, and some herbaceous ones, possibly from the cabernet.
However, Steve was most taken by the very short, well-behaved tannins. He said, not only do they present themselves then pack up quickly but they then come back with the vacuum and leave no trace.
It is an intriguing wine, made by Skillogalee to be easily approachable, and we concur!
