For our birthday episode, number 53, we not only had an enjoyable wine but we had an enjoyable winemaker; John Gledhill from Rosemount Estate.
John led us through the mysteries and pleasures of the GSM blend; Grenache, Shiraz, Mouvedre.
Steve was struck by the bouquet. He described it as thrusting his nose into the lolly counter at a corner store, with raspberry jellies and snakes, etc.
John explained the Grenache was most likely the cause of that bouquet.
Susan asked about the history of the GSM blend and John explained how it has been popular in South Rhone for a very long time and is considered a superb blend.

For the record, this wine is a delightful drop with just a hint of tannin.
