The South Australian Drink Of The Week in episode 56 was a Lake Breeze 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, hand selected by Ben Pike from Melbourne Street Fine Wine Cellars.
In fact, we had a wine tasting masterclass as we tasted this week’s drop, with Melbourne Street owner, John Swanson, joining us for about 20 minutes to talk about the Lake Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon and a range of other observations about wine.
On this wine, John noted that we were drinking it a bit young.
His view is all Cabernet Sauvignon needs at least 3-5 years to develop in the bottle and as a result, he thought this wine had quite moderate tannins.
He says in a few years they will soften and really turn this wine from Langhorne Creek into a beauty.
