The Adelaide Show Podcast putting South Australian passion on centre stage

Gemtree Vineyards 2011 Uncut Shiraz

gemtree-vineyardsBrett (pictured) brought this wine to the studio, masked.

In the guessing game and slow unveiling that followed, Steve and Colin were able to discern its style and region, such is the classic nature of this big, hearty, McLaren Vale red.

The only thing they got wrong (and it didn’t make the show due to editing constraints) was the vintage. Both opted for around 2008 but were stunned to learn the wine Gemtree Vineyards Uncut Shiraz they were trying was only TWO years old.

They were further stunned to learn it had been produced using organic farming methodology.

In fact, the brownie points earned by Brett and, more importantly, his wife Karen who suggested the wine, are almost uncountable.

Steve said this wine MUST become a regular in his cellar.

The boys were in awe of its body, its sweetish fruity notes on the nose and the palate, and the enormous ‘oomph’ it delivered in the glass.

This is a red you must try.
