In episode 87, we tried the 2009 Delacolline Shiraz from Port Lincoln, as discovered by Steve over summer.
This wine is as big a mystery as the wine industry in Port Lincoln.
Special guest, Allison Russell, was not even aware of wine from that region and Steve said he’d been visiting his brother-in-law there for 10 years without realising Delacolline was literally around the corner.
This wine delivered a mysterious experience too, ranging from streaks of sweetness to more savoury notes.
Nigel remarked on the powerful tannins whereas Steve talked about big mouthfeel and smoothness.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and one we’d recommend.
You can hear our tasting about six minutes in.
