2012 Kersbrook Hill Cabernet Sauvignon tasting notes

2012 Kersbrook Hill Cabernet Sauvignon on The Adelaide Show Podcast

At the National Motor Museum in Birdwood, we did a U-turn and opened a local wine, the 2012 Kersbrook Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, for a return review as the South Australian Drink Of The Week in episode 196 of The Adelaide Show.

And what a surprise it was.

The director, Paul Rees, had already prepared the bottle by allowing it to breathe and when the show began recording, the wine was revving in all cylinders.

We had previously tasted and reviewed it episode 164, and this week it maintained its ability to impress our palates.

This week, Steve noted the shade of eucalyptus in his first taste.

The colour was noted as a “solid red” and tannins were described as tame, which one might expect from a Cabernet that has had the chance to settle in the bottle for five years.

Guest, Mark Thomson, described his impression of this wine as like experiencing the early summer north wind with just a whiff of far north dust.

He said he can just imagine it whistling through the grapes and setting great biochemistry into action.

Steve also described the wine in car parlance, saying it is not a shiny show car but rather an elegant vehicle that slinks past you.

This will start your wine engines and comes highly recommended.
