For the first time, we actually had our featured artist in the studio with us to talk about and introduce their song. Susan Lily has been pigeon-holed as a Country singer, but I get a sense of a much broader genre going on here. Mind you, it may just be that my view of Country is too narrow. She came to Adelaide after finding the Sydney and Melbourne markets lacking the support she needed and has quickly established herself as a local and set about building her portfolio of cracking Pop-Country tunes.
Susan has also won equal first place in the 2013 SCALA FOOM competition for local songwriters. The prize was a recording session and she has promised to let us in for an early listen once it’s done.
Having Susan join us also allowed us to see a very quick witted, funny and charming professional who quickly and effortlessly fit into the team dynamic for the night’s show. And now she’s an honourary Nigel!
