OK, I’ve got a loud one for you tonight. Made up of Ed Noble on drums and Luke Marsh on Guitar and Vocals, Filthy Lucre are only the second band I’ve seen that can get away with a two piece format and still rock your socks off. Live performances Adelaide, Melbourne and regional towns have seen punters drawn in from the streets and surrounding venues, said to have been expecting more than a five-piece rock band playing on stage.
If you listen closely, you can hear that yes, there is only a guitar and drums. No overdubbing (except for maybe the lead, I’m not sure) or midi backing, the filling out is done by Luke’s consistent slide guitar and the reverb on the drums. This was recorded in a basement using only two microphones. This is powerful stuff – another one for the bucket list!
