The Adelaide Show Podcast putting South Australian passion on centre stage

Cannon by Walking With Thieves 004

I was put onto this band by the aunt of one of the band members following a post I put on Facebook looking for local talent.

Walking with Thieves are five young fellers who met together out of high school and first appeared in 2011. Their sound to me is a bit like Papa Roach (between angels and insects). The name came from a song they were originally working on; they liked the sound of it so much that they used it to name the band.
I saw a clip of theirs on Youtube where they were given a challenge to write a 30 second song where every word needed to start with a “T”, although they could include a “Yeah”; and they put together a really good song! This to me highlights the smarts behind the guitars.
The song “Cannon” doesn’t sneak up on you; from the first bar you know it’s going to be a powerful song. The arrangement on Cam’s vocals is really well done by holding back until the middle of the song. It’s really intelligent arranging, kick arse, and great lyrics.
This isn’t Colin or Steve’s typical genre, and they were both blown away by this song. And it got better with each listen.

Walking with Thieves is a powerhouse Adelaide band that makes you think they’ve got a lot more to give; they just don’t wanna hurt you.
