Adelaide Visa Council Judgements 006

This week, the Adelaide Visa Council had some easy cases, warning of a case and a tricky case of nuance to deal with. You can hear the deliberations in Episode 006. Here are the case notes:

1. @cleansedbyfire Drewbee
eagle on the hill servo by drewbeeAs it’s ‘another boring Thursday in Adelaide’, just in time. From the old Eagle On The Hill area…
When Drewbee was first before the council for concuring with a suggestion that Adelaide is boring and then clarifying that you can make it interesting if you seek out its hidden treasures, Co-Councilor Colin ruled that if Drewbee produced evidence of his love for our city’s secret places he would qualify for a Visa. That tweet contained a link to a shot of the old Eagle On The Hill Shell service station, which triggered some fond memories among councillors and earned Drewbee his Adelaide Visa. Congratulations! Drewbee also gave us permission to reproduce his photo here:

2. @stuartgregor
When Sydney-based blogger and Marketing professional, Stuart Gregor wrote an open letter to South Australia, advising us that we are cooler they we give ourselves credit for and urging us to get ‘weirder’, he caught the Council’s attention. The article appeared in the Advertiser. When tweeted about becoming a candidate for an Adelaide Visa, Stuart replied:
@BoringAdelaide let me know how I go, I will need a visa for return trip next month
Congratulations, Stuart, you are welcome back any time. We might even cross paths at some stage and get you on our show.

3. @croweating Satirical Croweater
The mystery twit, Satirical Croweater became the focus of the Adelaide Visa Council this week due to an obscure post.
#FF @BoringAdelaide – these guys are just what they say #Boring #Adelaide
After deliberation, it was agreed that no action will be taken against Satirical Croweater at this time because the comment, while potentially cheeky or disrespectful at first, can be considered part of a satirical landscape. The councillors erred on the side of caution and will leave it to the Satirical Croweater’s future actions to determine further rulings. For now, status pending.

4. @GapYearKerri Kerri Thorpe
Kerri is travelling the world from London and made this comment about her time in Adelaide:
Have found the friendliest people ever in & around #Adelaide, offers to help every time we look at our maps
This was the fastest decision on record. Kerri, congratulations, you now have an Adelaide Visa, so you are welcome to return and stay.

5. @EdTrinh and @McMahonJulian
Ed Trinh is a current Adelaide Visa holder and together with Julian McMahon, the guys informed the Council during recording that an Adelaide person was talking our city and country down on an SBS program.
We are investigating and will report next week. We also noted this excellent, civic behaviour from Julian and Ed.
