107-lainie-anderson-pinot-noirThis week, in episode 107, we spent the night with Lainie Anderson in her home up in Bridgewater and therefore it was only fair to choose an Adelaide Hills wine as our SA Drink Of The Week: the Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard 2013 Pinot Noir.

It was also a case of good timing because Steve had met Sharon from Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard the week before at the opening of something else creating buzz in the hills, the Buzz Honey Hive Door at Totness next to Prancing Pony Brewery. We’ll be heading there soon for a show.

However, in true hills style, it turns out that Lainie knows Sharon and Garry and quickly extolled the virtues of the winery itself resulting in Steve pledging to visit before summer is over.

The wine itself is a dark horse, according to Steve, because it is a Pinot Noir that tastes magnificent. He’d had a bad run with that variety over the years.

The team agreed this Pinot was elegant, nicely integrated and finished by what Steve referred to as ‘obedient tannins’.

Lainie picked up on hints of chocolate and berry and Steve noted the presence of a little green stalkishness.

This wine was well enjoyed!!

Hear the tasting about six minutes in. But only if you pledge to visit the winery before summer is over 🙂
