This week we bathe in glorious wine for a serious reason.

John Harvey, the winemaker from Bathe Wines, has hooked up with Tom Williamson to raise funds for Mental Health research through the Black Dog Institute.

Therefore, we are proud to say that the Bathe Wines 2011 McLaren Vale Shiraz is the South Australian Drink Of The Week for episode 59.

John says this wine has great cellar potential, and we believe him.

The only thing we struggle to understand is how he has been able to make it available for such a steal of a price in the Black Dog Dozen.

For only $150 you can buy a mixed case with the 2011 Shiraz and the Bathe Wines 2012 Suvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills and John will personally donate $40 from every sale to the Black Dog Institute to research into mental health.

Please buy the Black Dog Dozen online now.

This is all part of Tom Williamson’s push to raise $5,000 for this research, which also includes a fundraising bike ride through Cambodia in April 2015. You can also donate directly to Tom’s fundraising bike ride in Cambodia.

But hearing is believing so click on this link to hear Tom explain it in our show.

We urge you to trust us. This wine is good, the price is excellent, and the cause is crucial.

PS After we finished the show, we realised we didn’t spend a lot of time talking about the wine but just why you should buy it and how important it is to support research into mental health.

However, if you listen to the whole show you’ll hear how the wine comes up a couple of times as we comment upon how nicely this Shiraz opens up and how it will definitely have power to deliver after a few years in the cellar.

And it’s worth noting this is a very reserved, elegant Shiraz, not the sweeter style. Lovely black fruits and a sumptuous finish.
