In this week’s episode of The Adelaide Show, we meet the Adelaide Fringe part one, following Steve’s busy morning recording very short chats with many performers – 20 in this episode. More will follow in part two.
Also this week, two venue managers, Kerry Marsh (The A Club), and Ross Vosvotekas (Astor Hotel), will share some behind the scenes glimpses into what’s done to create performing spaces for the 1200 events taking place in 2019.
Also this week, the SA Drink Of The Week is from Angove Wines.
Our new sponsor, Adelaide Night And Day Family Therapy, continues tonight, with occupational therapist, Johanna de Kort.
And in the Musical Pilgrimage, we have a track from Sunitra Martinelli, part of their show in the Adelaide Hills, Melange a Trois.

Menz Dark Chocolate Coated Coffee Beans. We chose this as our “drink” instead of an alcoholic one because Behind The News has done quite a few stories about the dangers of alcohol, especially if you are under 25. |

In this week’s Mindful Moment, principal of Adelaide Night and Day Family Therapy, Johanna De Kort, explores senses, and when they are over sensitive. | |

It’s Fringe time in Adelaide and 1200 events are ready to roll. But who are the people who make the spaces where the frollicking happens? They are the venue managers. Hotels, clubs, theatres, wine tasting rooms, parks, tents, even a swimming pool, are all playing host to various shows this year. And we have two venue managers to sit with us, Ross Vosvotekas, who is managing the Astor Hotel’s space this year, and Kerry Marsh, who is managing the A Club. Given this is the Monday night, just four sleeps before the Fringe officially opens, what would you rather be doing now – what’s on your to do lists? Kerry, the A Club is new to me. How long has it been running, and how have you approached your lineup? Ross, you manage Cranker Comedy at the Crown and Anchor every Tuesday night and the Variety Show at The Gov on Saturday nights, what are you doing at the Astor during the Fringe? And how do you choose your acts? What makes you nervous? Without being too biased about your own shows, what are some helpful cues for people to look out for in the Fringe guide and in the interviews that follow, to help them choose a show that will suit them? Does anybody win if people get tricked into a show? 39:00 At the meet the media day, I spoke to dozens of Fringe artists and with each of them I did some speed interviewing. So, strap yourself in and see if you want to set a date for any of these acts. And, I must say, they were all intriguing (and that’s the rub – sometimes Fringe guide entries do NOT do justice to the acts).
