Tomorrow – Andy & Marta – 027

I’ve been aware of Andy & Marta for a long time in the Adelaide music scene, but haven’t caught them live yet. When you hear other musicians talk about them, it’s with acceptance and respect of a team that have been doing it professionally and unpretentiously for years. They have a real folk feel and beautiful harmonies.
This song, Tomorrow, also highlights their deft songwriting; it’s remarkable how easily you can imagine the scenes it describes throughout the song, and how they’ve taken a cliched phrase like “when the penny drops” and extended into an integral part of the story. Marta’s vocals reminded me of Maggie Reilly in Mike Oldfield’s “Moonlight Shadow”, while Colin got a memory of Leo Sayer’s “I can’t stop loving you”.

Although they were already on my “I must go and check these guys out” list, They’ve moved up a few notches since I heard this. Loved it.
