Anyone who I’ve seen recently knows I’m a huge fan of these guys. I saw them at Bennetts Lane in Melbourne and can’t get enough. A while ago I played their song “Hungarian Holiday” and was so caught up in it that I didn’t even realise it was an instrumental until Steve and Colin pointed it out after having a listen. So I’ve chosen one with bass player Kiah Gossner singing in a style that would slot straight into a gathering of Tsiganes somewhere in rural France. Like a lot of their songs, it has changes in tempo and feel throughout, but doesn’t feel at all disjointed. And, as with “Hungarian Holiday”, this is a LIVE recording from the Wheaty.
Apart from the musicianship, these guys are paying their dues, playing at WOMAD, The Yackandandah Folk festival and travelling interstate regularly. Check them out before they get really famous!
