Adelaidey-hoo – Brett Monten – 019

Steve actually chose the song for this week’s outtro; partly because I wasn’t there, but also because he was compiling the ‘show of lists’ about the previous year’s episodes. We talked about the top ten songs of the year just gone and so needed a point of difference for the outtro song. And seeing as we hadn’t played this in it’s entirety…
The song came together from a conversation in our beta recording when I recalled seeing Billy Connolly doing a skit in Adelaide about Adelaide, saying how it sounded like a yodel… Adelaidey-hooo! This then developed into the underlying theme. The lyrics came from a descriptive of what Adelaide was – nothing too remarkable in there, although in the process I did learn the correct pronounciation of ‘Kaurna’.
