We were introduced to the 2010 Q Shiraz from the Coonawarra by Jo Gupta while recording episode 226 of The Adelaide Show Podcast at India To You.
Jo runs the front of house and said this Shiraz from Q Wines is, hands down, the most popular drop in her Indian restaurant.
Steve quipped that Q Wines should rename the region Q-nawarra 😉
2010 Q Shiraz Coonawarra tasting notes
Steve said his palate got an intense but distant hint of blackcurrant cordial BEFORE eating the spicy entrees that Kapil Gupta served.
After the entrees, Steve noted that although the flavours of the wine toned down a substantial degree, they spread evenly across his palate.
It’s like the wine is the perfect front of house person, circulating evenly throughout the restaurant, ensuring no guest is ignored or favoured more than or less than any other guest, while keeping everybody happy.
Nigel noted a peppery edge emerge after the food.
A final thought is that the wine leaves a savoury finish in the mouth, like sinking into a well worn Chesterfield couch.
